Hey, soulful readers!

I wanted to talk honestly about a topic we've all encountered on this crazy ride called life - triggers. We're all strong, influential individuals, but let's face it: even the best of us can get caught up in those moments that make our blood boil or our hearts race. So,grab a cup of your favorite tea, find a comfy spot, and dive into the world of triggers and how we can show them who's boss.

What Are Triggers?

First things first - what exactly are triggers? Well, triggers are those sneaky little things that can set off a storm of emotions within us. They're like those unexpected twists in a soap opera that leave us gasping for air. Triggers can come in many shapes and sizes - a word, a situation, or even a person that brings up past experiences or emotions. You know, the stuff that makes you clench your fists or take a deep breath.

Identifying Your Triggers

Now that we know what triggers are let's talk about identifying them. It's essential to be self-aware and recognize the patterns that lead to these emotional rollercoasters. Take a moment to reflect on situations where you've felt a sudden surge of anger, sadness, or frustration. What was happening? Who or what was involved? Understanding the root of your triggers is the first step to regaining control.

Listen, my friends, triggers can be sneaky. They can show up when you least expect them, like an uninvited guest at a party. Pay attention to your body - do you feel tension in your shoulders, a knot in your stomach, or a racing heart? These physical cues are your body's way of saying, "Hey, something's up!" Please don't ignore them; they're the breadcrumbs leading you to your triggers.

Taking Charge and Turning Them Off

Now that we've identified those triggers, it's time to take charge and turn them off. Picture this: you're in control of the remote, and it's time to change the channel. Here are a few strategies to help you regain control when those triggers come knocking:

  1. Deep Breathing: When you feel that tension building up, take a moment to breathe. Inhale slowly through your nose, hold it, and exhale through your mouth. It's like a mini-vacation for your mind.
  2. Count to Ten and place your tongue on the roof of your mouth: Counting isn't just for kids. When you feel triggered, count to ten before reacting. It allows you to collect yourself and relax the central nervous system.

3. Create a Mantra: Develop a positive mantra to repeat to yourself when triggers arise. Something like, "I am in control of my emotions, and I choose peace."

4. Seek Support: Talk to someone you trust about what's triggering you. Sometimes, sharing your feelings can provide a fresh perspective and emotional support. {Corporate Wellness services}

Remember, you're in control of your narrative and the BRAIN. Don't let those triggers dictate the story of your life. Identify, acknowledge, and conquer them with grace and strength. Life is too short to let triggers steal your joy.

Stay soulful,

Karen 💋
